Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

Easter
2024

At Easter, United Methodists across the world join with other Christians to celebrate the Risen Christ!

The journey to Easter begins on Ash Wednesday as we pause to reflect on this holy day of repentence. As we move through the 40 days of Lent, we may choose to praise and worship the Lord; to read the Bible more, and to pray more often, all in preparation for celebrating the most sacred of days.

With Holy Week upon us, we contemplate Jesus' final days on Earth, an intense time of joy, betrayal and mourning, all leading up to the most glorious day when we rejoice in Christ's Resurrection on Easter!

Sunday, march 24 @ 10:00am

It is important to capture the irony of Palm Sunday (or Passion Sunday.) This is the day on which Jesus entered the city in triumph, but as a part of his journey to the cross; this is the week in which the crowd’s cries of “Hosanna!” would soon turn to “Crucify him!”

Our Palm Sunday service focuses on Jesus' procession into Jerusalem, with palm leaves handed out to guests as they check in that day.

Thursday, March 28 @ 6:00pm

The first of the three days of solemn remembrance of the events leading up to and immediately following the crucifixion of Jesus. As recorded in John's gospel, on his last night before his betrayal and arrest, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and then gave them a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them (John 13:34).

Our evening service will include a similar washing of the feet (or hands) experience, as well as taking part in Holy Communion together.

Friday, march 29 @ 10:00am + 6:00pm

Good Friday, or Holy Friday as much of the world knows it, proclaims God's purpose of loving and redeeming the world - even in the face of human rejection and cruelty through the cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is a day that is holy and makes us holy because God was drawing the world to God's self in Christ.

This 45 minute service takes guests through the various stations of the cross, and guides you with music and prayer.

Sunday, March 31 @ 7:00am + 9:30am

The Easter Season is the most joyous and celebrative season of the Christian year. We celebrate the good news that in Christ’s death and resurrection we, and all creation, are continually being made new by God’s love and saving grace.

We pack a lot into our Easter morning at Aiea UMC! We offer both an early sunrise service at 7:00am, followed by a small breakfast brunch together. We also offer a later 9:30am service, followed by our annual egg hunt on the lawn for keiki. Easter morning is a well-attended event, so we encourage guests to arrive a little earlier than normal to find parking and their seating.

We regularly partner with:

John
24:1-7

"But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to the hands of sinners and be crucified and on the third day rise again.”
